My experience at Lights All Night 2014 is special because it marks the first genre-specific festival I attended, the genre being EDM. Before Lights All Night 2014, the only festivals I had gone to were ACL, SXSW, Lollapalooza, and Float Fest, none of which are genre-specific. However, attending Lights All Night introduced me to an entire different type of music festival. For this reason, I will always be grateful of my experience at Lights All Night 2014.
However, in terms of the festival itself, Lights All Night was not that enjoyable. Of the two years I attended, 2014 and 2015, 2014 was the better year because of the venue. For Lights All Night 2015, the festival was moved from the Dallas Convention Center to the Dallas Market Hall. Although the Market Hall was advertised as an upgraded experience for attendees, it fell short. The venue was not as well-equipped as the Convention Center was to handle the large number of people that attend Lights All Night each year and the quality of the festival suffered.
Lights All Night 2015 was the last year I attended the festival. However, as I said before, I’m extremely grateful of my experience at Lights All Night 2014 for exposing me to the world of EDM-specific festivals.
