Music, art, and a whole lotta love: Trail to the Woods

To start the final countdown to Backwoods, the official Trail to the Woods preparty took place in Austin, Texas on March 24, 2018. The Trail to the Woods was a collaboration of music, art, and a whole lotta love, and was a great sneak peek into what attendees can expect at Backwoods.

Regarding music, the Trail to the Woods primarily featured music performances by Ryan Viser and Linear Symmetry, both of which will be performing at Backwoods. Ryan Viser brought the heat with his trumpet playing and music producing skills and Linear Symmetry got the whole crowd moving to their funky beats and Middle Eastern-sounding vocals. Also performing were locals Steve Sullivan of Odyssey Music, Vince Seidl of Resonant Frequency, NOISECHOIR, and Ben Buck, who are all extremely talented and all gave stellar performances.

The Trail to the Woods also contained several live artists, including Joel Hankins, the mastermind behind Joel Painted This and String Theory Art Productions, and a multitude of art vendors. Whether you wanted to relax with Pandora Star, a meditation light experience, or laugh and be amazed with Vegas, a comedic magician, the Trail to the Woods had it all.

My favorite art vendor was Cards for Connection, which is primarily a card game, similar to Cards Against Humanity, but with a deeper, more connective aim. However, the owner, Erin Hickok, was also painting attendees with rainbows, and letting attendees paint her, as shown in the photo below.

Overall, the Trail to the Woods featured music, art, a little flavor of Backwoods, and an abundance of smiles. It was clear that everyone who attended had an amazing time and is extremely excited for the upcoming festival.
